John Petrucci Mesa® Mark Five: 25™ 'Tone Lounge' Proto Playthrough and Settings
John Petrucci’s visit to the Mesa® Factory in April 2014 was a great day for many reasons! John, Maddi and the Dream Theater crew were kind enough to bring up John’s 2014 TriAxis™ Rig to do a rig tour & demo and they also brought some of John’s favorite Mark IIC+™ amps that were used to make the Mark V™ vs Mark IIC+ comparison video. One of the first things we did that day was to capture video of John playing through a prototype of the Mark Five: 25™ for the first time.
The video tells the story better than any words, but John did an amazing job of not only finding great tones in the amp with great improvisation and some tasty Dream Theater tunes, he also channeled a bunch of great sounds, riffs and classic players throughout this exploration of the Mark Five: 25.
Here are some of the settings John was using on the Mark Five: 25 for some of the various sections in the video:

Lots of of good times were had with Mesa’s Founder, Randall Smith, “Tone Boy” Doug West, John, Maddi and the rest of the Mesa team. Our sincere thanks to John & the Dream Theater Crew for special packing and re-routing their gear truck to make all of these videos possible - a huge amount of work involved and very much appreciated by all of us at Mesa. We can’t wait for the next chance to hang!
