THE WALKABOUT® SCOUT™ CONVERTIBLE BASS COMBO. IT’S A HEAD. IT’S A COMBO. IT’S BOTH. AND EITHER WAY, THE TONE IS HUGE

Yet this is one petite rig. Start with the WalkAbout® head: 300 watts, 13 lbs., an all-tube preamp and our proprietary Simul-State™ Power featuring a tube Driver and mosfet Power Block. Then, dock all that musical performance within our Scout™ Radiator Combo Cabinet and you have an incredible one-trip hybrid Bass rig offering the best of tube and mosfet characteristics in one super-versatile package. Warm, round, huge, old-school Tone may be its most-described attribute, but its portability is likely enjoyed by players just as much.

CONVERTIBLE; TONE FOR ALL SEASONS

In minutes, and armed with only a screwdriver, you can convert the WalkAbout Scout from a featherweight combo to a small gig-bag sized head. This flexibility allows you to configure your rig to the venue, the musical style and demands, or even just your mood, in short order…right up to sound check.

DOWN-FIRING PASSIVE RADIATOR; FILLS THE ROOM WITH BASS, NOT THE STAGE WITH GEAR

Scout™ cabs boast a unique down-firing Passive Radiator. The low-end down-force of the Scout Combo and Scout Extension Cabinets’ down-firing passive radiator amplifies the cabinet volume to produce a Bass sound of unusual size for a footprint this small. For great sound you need great speakers and in the Scout Line we use proprietary Scout drivers with unmistakable MESA® quality. The Scout Combo utilizes an 8” Passive Radiator while the extra space in the Scout Extension allows us to squeeze in a 10” Radiator.

PLAYER CONTROL™ NETWORK; HIGHS, YOUR WAY

The Scout Line of cabinetry features our versatile Player Control™ Network. This powerful voicing feature provides 3 selectable crossover points (3k / 4k / 5k), and a premium rotary Attenuator for the High Frequency Driver along with Instant Reset Horn Protection. Select the most appropriate region of harmonics and top-end accentuation for the musical style your playing, then dial in the desired amount of that region with the smoothly graduated Attenuator.

Reviews

  • "With an impressive 300 watts of output, and the speaker compliment to allow you to take advantage of it, this is one seriously gig-friendly bass combo. The parametric EQ is wonderfully responsive and can inject new life into any player’s sound by finely tuning those critical mid-range frequencies. The overall quality of the sound has to be heard to be fully appreciated. And the eight-inch acoustic radiator puts it into a class of its own, giving the impression of a much larger enclosure…As always, much thought has gone into this design and it really shows. The Walkabout Scout is simply stunning!”

  • "The Mesa WalkAbout Scout combines Mesa’s 13-pound WalkAbout head with a cleverly designed neo-speaker equipped 1x12 cabinet, resulting in an incredibly stout-sounding and lightweight gigger’s delight. Even though Mesa designed the Scout to be an all-in-one combo, the WalkAbout head can be easily removed from the cabinet by unscrewing the back plate. This is an excellent feature.”
