"With an impressive 300 watts of output, and the speaker compliment to allow you to take advantage of it, this is one seriously gig-friendly bass combo. The parametric EQ is wonderfully responsive and can inject new life into any player’s sound by finely tuning those critical mid-range frequencies. The overall quality of the sound has to be heard to be fully appreciated. And the eight-inch acoustic radiator puts it into a class of its own, giving the impression of a much larger enclosure – and this is only the 12-inch version, we can’t wait to try the 15-inch!... As always, much thought has gone into this design and it really shows. The Walkabout Scout is simply stunning!”

GOOD NEWS FOR THE BASSIST ON THE MOVE
PORTABLE LINEAR - POWER TONE AND FEEL
Weighing in at just under 13 Pounds and sizing up at 12 inches by 12 inches, the WalkAbout® is the compact linear-powered alternative to the Class D power revolution taking place in the world of Bass. The WalkAbout delivers a smooth, warm, musical sounding 300 watts into 4 Ohms with hybrid architecture using a 4-stage tube preamp and driver and a mosfet power block we refer to as Simul-State™ Power. This innovative design produces all the linear design characteristics, warmth, rich low end, punchy mid attack and breathing highs, of the best high power linear circuits. All this mid power magic is packed into a size that will fit in a sub-compact car and still leave room for you, your Bass and a partner.
CONVERTIBLE; RECONFIGURE AND ADAPT TO YOUR CHANGING NEEDS
The WalkAbout supports a convertible design that allows for long-term flexibility in platform styles and assures your amp can keep pace with your changing musical needs. Whether you choose the WalkAbout Head, order it with our Vinyl-Covered Wood Case, attach the optional Rack Ears and rack it up, or slide it into one of our Passive Radiating Scout™ Combo cabinets, the one WalkAbout chassis fits all these formats and has got you covered for years to come.
LIMITLESS SHAPING POWER
In addition to the standard array of rotary Tone controls in the tube preamp, the WalkAbout features a 3-Band Semi-Parametric EQ for infinite control of the sound. Begin your shaping with the Active BASS and TREBLE controls and fill in the midrange with the classic response of the broad-band Passive MID. Once you’re in the zone with the smooth, easy to dial nature of these preamp Tone controls, address any finer points by notching or boosting specific frequencies with the 3-Band Semi-Parametric EQ controls. There you have 15dB of cut or boost over the entire frequency range from 30Hz to12KHz.
SIMUL-STATE™ POWER; HYBRID AT ITS BEST
Our Simul-State Power uses the “always on” nature of tubes to harness instant attack and incredible musicality in the driver stage in combination with the tight-tracking low end and bold authority of mosfets as the power device. Mosfets offer the best sonic attributes of both tube associated warmth and solid-state style authority and urgent feel. The combined technology in Simul-State is a new sound and truly does incorporate the best of both worlds.
RECORD READY AND BORN TO GIG
The WalkAbout is equally at home in the studio and on the gig. It’s Rear Panel features an XLR Balanced Direct Output that captures the warm, balanced sound of the entire tube preamp and EQ options. A GROUND/LIFT switch removes the circuit Ground from Chassis ground to help eliminate grounding problems when interfacing to a Console. A Series EFFECTS LOOP is also fitted to the Rear Panel and the LOOP can be hard bypassed for those purists who don’t use much processing and prefer absolute signal purity.

"Mesa’s WalkAbout Scout blends timeless, bottomy tone with contemporary innovations that save weight. Though it’s no bigger than some practice amps, it’s a serious piece of gear that’s capable of satisfying the discerning professional. If size matters to you, do yourself a favor and take the Scout for a walk. ”
