Tone Sessions: The Watchers – Triple Crown TC-100™ – "Sabbath Highway"
Rock and classic Metal gain sounds are the backbone of the Triple Crown™ series, and the TC-100™ adds power, punch, width, and authority to the Triple Crown line. Bay Area guitarist Jeremy Von Epp dialed in some great tones to showcase the classic metal gain available from the TC-100 with a song from his band The Watchers called “Sabbath Highway”.
The opening riff starts out in Channel 2 and is panned right. Ch. 2 was set and captured to be tight, open and raw, and represents the slightly lower, yet still powerful, amount of gain available in Ch. 2 versus Ch. 3.
Channel 3 was panned left and is a bit more compressed, slightly biting and a bit more ‘shred’. The Ch. 3 setting was also used for the solo (in addition to adding the reverb), so the extra compression made for a nice liquid feel for soloing while remaining focused and cutting through without getting too bright.
Recorded with a Gibson Firebird and a 500t bridge pickup into the Triple Crown TC-100 and a Rectifier® 2x12 Horizontal cab with Vintage 30 speakers. Mic’d with a Shure KSM 313 and a Shure SM57 and mixed 50% KSM313 and 50% SM57.
