Tone Sessions: JP-2C / 2x12 Rectifier with John Browne and "Melancholia"
MESA® Artist and Monuments guitarist John Browne plays through the JP-2C™ and a 2x12 Recto® cab on his song “Melancholia”, from his latest Flux Conduct solo project album, Yetzer Hara.
The JP-2C and John’s world-class down picking skills highlight the accuracy, clarity and tightness available from the JP-2C gain channels. The JP-2C delivers staggering power, punch and authority while matching that width beautifully with the rich, even-ordered harmonic layering that has become such a hallmark of the infamous MESA Mark IIC+ amplifiers. One of the common responses from people plugging into the JP-2C for the first time is surprise when they feel how accurate, tight and immediately responsive to pick attack the amp remains with such massive high gain on tap. A wide range of detailed gain and saturation is supported by incredible headroom and pure Mark Series power that hasn’t been seen or felt since the Mark IIC+ landed in studios and on stages in the early 80s and beyond.
Recorded through the JP2C and a 2x12 Rectifier® cab with Vintage 30 speakers, via a Mayones Duvell with Seymour Duncan P-Rail pickups into a Jim Dunlop 6 band EQ, Reaper Pedals JB Signature Pandemonium OD and Boss NS2. Mic’d with a Royer 121, Shure SM57, CabClone and a Mojave 301 room mic and mixed 40% 121, 30% SM57, 15% CabClone and 15% Mojave Room mic.
