Mesa® Artist Spotlight: Quinten Hope Lone Star® and Stiletto Deuce™ Demo Videos

Steeped in the tradition of Texas guitar slinging, Quinten Hope is one of the guys who has not only grown up there - he's lived it. Now, in a series of great videos, Quinten shares his insights and expertise into his use of Mesa amps in his playing and songwriting with real world Texas Blues Rock on the menu. But first, a little history...

Born a native Texan, Quinten began his musical journey at a young age, inspired by his father's wide-ranging musical tastes of blues, jazz, rock, country and soul. Schooled at the nationally acclaimed University of North Texas School of Music, Quinten honed his guitar craft, improvisation and song writing skills and began a dedicated recording regimen now consisting of three expressive releases. His first titled "Aspects of the Soul" laid the groundwork for subsequent recordings that included the legendary bass prowess of Will Lee from the Late Night With David Letterman Show.

Will is quoted as saying, "Quinten has the rare ability to write and play his music with a healthy balance of precision & detail while remaining open enough to allow great freedom for himself & the other players. (He's got) that special “something” that only a true artist has. That’s how it feels to play with him. See if you can’t hear that in his music."

Any six-string fan will hear it immediately in addition to Quinten's healthy command of great tone. A devout Mesa fan since 2004, he was introduced to the Lone Star while in the studio recording his second album titled "Start of a New Day". He has since incorporated the Mesa Stiletto Deuce to accompany his original Lone Star to cover the full gamut of classic British and American tones used throughout his music.

The following videos offer exceptional insight into the tones he's captured on his recordings and in live performance including some cuts from his latest album release titled "Reunion". Sit back, enjoy and be prepared to pickup some valuable tone tips from someone who has traveled a while down the road of Tone Hard Knocks and come out well on top.

In this first video, Quinten goes over his overall setup with guitars, FX and amps in a general overview of his rig.

Next, Quinten goes over his use of the Lonestar and the different tones and settings he likes with the amp.

This video showcases Quinten's tones and settings from the Mesa Stiletto Deuce and going over the amps features as well as some cabinet preferences.

Here, Quinten ties in the use of both the Lone Star and Stiletto Deuce together on his performance of the song Electric Gigue from his new album Reunion.

Sparkling Lone Star clean tones shine throughout Caron's Song, layering the foundation for a sweet clipped solo in Channel Two. Purring clip and winning sustain for as long as you want...

On Roll The Dice, Quinten leans back into the Stiletto Deuce on an uptempo rock/blues riff-fest. Turn it up!

I think we said it at the beginning - the man can really operate a guitar. ;) Hope you enjoyed the Mesa insights and picked up a couple of new favorite tones or settings and maybe a lick or two as well. Special thanks to Quinten Hope for the time and care taken to create these videos and share his Mesa experience and tasty Texas guitar-slinging with us. Looking forward to more great songs and tones in the near future.
